Step 4: Profit. How it works - experiment

Step 4: Profit.  How it works - experiment

Here we are at the end of my first day gold blogging.  My most recent experimental character, now level 12, was looking for good profit & snagged a few "deals" via the Undermine Journal (theunderminejournal.com)  After a cancel scan, a small repost, & a dealfinding search, we're down -854g03s.  This isn't looking good, so far...

I created this level 1 new character on a new server to see what could be done starting out once again at zero gold; Smurgle was born.  Prior to being able to cage Warcraft TCG loot pets & sharing them account wide, there was no easy way to transfer gold, move item(s) of value cross server, & then within days become "rich".  My nest egg came from the selling 2 battle pets, Bananas for 55k gold & Rocket Chicken for 100k gold.  With that initial 155k, I quickly expanded into Mists Blues ilvl 409-450, low priced epics, patterns/recipes that sell for 400-500+g, & crafted Dreadful Mists PVP pieces selling for less than 300g.  If you don't recognize it yet, my biggest Gold Making strategy, it's Flipping.

Flipping, simply put, is finding something valuable at a much lower than normal price & relisting the item at a more "normal" price.  It's finding value & thus quick & easy gold from erroneous price errors.

Negative 854g03s JUST for logging in, sucks...

Good thing we sold a few items from the beginning of this blog until now.  +7439g24s on ONE character on a server far, far away.  A net profit of 6,595g after paying the bills & reinvesting.

The night's still young & we got 5 more servers/factions to go...  >:D

Oh don't mind me, I'm just making it rain gold!

Daily Haul #1: 0g?! We gotta start somewhere

Daily Haul #1: 0g?!  We gotta start somewhere

Welcome to the first Daily Haul!  In these spaces we will discuss daily incoming & outgoing gold.  To start off we need some baselines.

When interacting, there are a few questions players will invariably ask if you claim to be knowledgeable about "gold making".  These questions are (in no particular order):

1:  How much gold do you have currently (liquid)?
2:  How much total gold have you earned (lifetime)
3:  How do you make gold?
4:  How much gold do you make daily?

Current Liquid Gold breaks down across 6 servers/factions I do business in.  This info is after a fresh reposting of all my items today we have:

Thunderhorn Alliance =  208,210g
Thunderhorn Horde =  77,914g
Twisting Nether Horde =  95,478g
Staghelm Horde =  389,787
Steamwheedle Cartel Alliance =  313,217g
Mug'thol Horde =  334,627g

Current Liquid Gold 8/31/2013 = 1,419,233g

Total Gold Earned are statistics that Blizzard tracks under the Achievements tab in game so it's legit!  You can see each character's total gold earned via the AH by hitting "Y" to bring up the achiements, at the bottom hit the "Statistics" tab,  click "Character" & then click "Wealth" & see your own gold timeline.  I use an addon called "Total Gold Earned" (/tge) to display mine account wide very easily.  As of today we have:

Total Gold Earned 8/31/2013 = 11,515,636g

To answer how do I make gold, would steer this away from the Daily Haul concept, so I will follow up this post with another for explanation of how I make gold in a miriad of ways.

And finally, the answer to how much gold I make daily changes with each day.  It depends on many factors which we can get into detail later.  On average I make 2,000-5,000g daily.  Some days I make nothing & I am out all the deposit fees & other days it's a 15k Daily Haul!

Daily Haul 8/31/2013 = 0g

A new beginning, an introduction, & some history

Always wanted to blog, talk to others, make friends, & share information, so here we go.

My name is Jason & I've been playing World of Warcraft since 2004.  I've been playing Blizzard Products since Warcraft: Orcs & Humans.  My first character & main until end of Cataclysm, was my Dwarf Hunter, Dilvish, the Champion of the Naaru.  What I would consider my new main is my Gnome Deathknight, Virulent, the Patient.  Along with those two 90 characters, I have a max level Gnome Mage, Torchie;  along with a Forsaken Hunter, Scourgehunt.  There are several other alts & we'll get to all my characters in more detail soon enough.

The rich lore of Blizzard games, & World of Warcraft specifically, is what keeps me playing & shelling out cash for subscription fees, expansions, collector's editions, virtual goods, ebooks, & trading card packs.  I PVE mainly; barely PVP.  Once I exhaust a majority of the lore & content, I focus on gold making.  Making gold is a challenge I greatly enjoy within the game.  Just as with wine & spirits, my methods for making gold have evolved & improved over time.

Like many others, I try to get my characters geared up & I still maintain a large inventory of vanity items & gear pieces from each high water mark at max level.  In every expansion I painstakingly obtain "personal best" equipment through endless Pick Up Groups (PUGs); Communistic & evil guilds that maintained & profited only an elite upper guild management.  Don't get me wrong, I loved most every minute of it, as long as I wasn't getting screwed over by RNG or other players.  My favorite expansion was Burning Crusade throughout both Wrath of the Lich King & Cataclysm.  For everything wrong with Mists of Pandaria there is also a whole lot right with it.  Mists is my favorite Warcraft expansion of all time even though we're currently in a love/hate relationship.
